For User of Kyushu-university

①take the Guidance and Basic course.

 

Those who are beginners with electronic microscopes should please take a training course. The Guidance and Basic course are held regularly. For details, please check on the page for electron microscope training courses.

②the Application form of Research Project

 

Persons allowed to apply are those who have a budget. The period of validity for the Application form of Research Project is one year (submitted every academic year).

Fill out the Application form of Research Project by referring to the entry example. Submit the original form with the name and seal of the applicant to the URC office.

③Experimental plan at X-ray generator

 

Necessary when using the JEM-1300NEF. If you expect to use this equipment, submit together with the Application form of Research Project. (Submitted every academic year)

*When using the JEM-1300NEF, it is necessary to register with the School of Engineering as a person engaged in handling X-rays, and wear a glass badge.

Persons who have not registered should please go here →"Steps of procedure for registration as a person handling radioactive isotopes, etc. (School of Engineering, etc.)" (PDF)

*If you have already registered as a person engaged in handling X-rays outside the School of Engineering and have a glass badge
please take the "Workshop on Rules and Other Provisions to Prevent Radiation Injuries in the School of Engineering, etc." given by the School of Engineering.
After that, present the specified registration application card and record book for persons handling radioactive isotopes (distributed at the workshop or course) to the person in charge of the affiliated department, and carry out registration as a person handling X-rays in the School of Engineering.
When registration as a person handling X-rays in the School of Engineering is finished, submit the Experimental plan at X-ray generator to the URC.

*Even if you are registered as a person engaged in handling X-rays, please inquire with the URC office if the above does not apply, e.g., if you do not have a glass badge.

④Reservation

 

Check the reservation schedule for the week in which you wish to use the equipment, and apply by 10:00 a.m. on Monday of the previous week.
The machine time schedule for the following week is posted on the home page by Monday evening. If your name is in the schedule chart, you can use the electron microscope on that day.

*Users are not contacted individually, so be sure to check your reservation on your own After the schedule is posted, you can always make a reservation in an empty slot.

*If you must unavoidably cancel a reservation, be sure to contact the URC office beforehand.

⑤Use

 

After use, be sure to fill out the Use track record (blue file). Billing will be done based on the Use track record.

*Users of the JEM-1300NEF should wear a glass badge during experiments, and also fill out the X-ray generating equipment use ledger in the laboratory.

⑥Payment

 

Billing will be done based on the Use track record.

⑦Submission of reports

The end of the academic year, you submit the following reports and other documents relating to the research topic you have applied for.

  • Use report (one sheet)
  • List of publications and presentations related to the use of equipments of the URC
  • Information on degrees acquired and awards received relating to electron microscopes
  • Papers to be published in Annual Reports of the URC
